How Does the MAGNASAT® Benchtop System Work?

The MAGNASAT® system measures magnetic susceptibility by analysing the changes a sample causes to an alternating current (AC) magnetic field.

When a sample is placed within the measurement system, its magnetic and electrical properties influence the AC magnetic field. The MAGNASAT® electronics detect these changes and calculate the magnetic susceptibility of the material. The system reports results as absolute magnetic susceptibility values, providing highly repeatable and objective measurements.

Sample preparation is straightforward and typically requires crushing material to less than 2 mm particle size before testing. Results are available within seconds, allowing rapid analysis of large numbers of samples.
