Energy Australia’s Mount Piper Power Station Selects Procon Engineering’s T96 Steam Leak Detection System to Replace Obsolete Technology.
Ultra-Dynamics Pty Ltd is pleased to announce that Energy Australia has selected the T96 Steam Leak Detection System technology to replace obsolete technology already installed at the site. Procon Engineering was the originator of this type of steam leak detection technique and continue to be the world’s leading supplier of this equipment with over 200 systems installed worldwide. The T96 can be supplied with both airborne and structure borne sensors, both of which use very sensitive microphones to listen to the boiler. The sound environment inside the boiler is relatively quiet and so even a pinhole steam leak is easily identified. The following picture shows a “typical” steam leak detection system:
The system is well suited to application in the following plants:
• Cement
• Metallurgical Processing, eg copper, zinc etc
• Iron ore
• Steelworks

Reduction of secondary damage
Increased personal safety
Why is Early Detection Essential? For Utilities -To prevent expensive secondary damage and unscheduled outages in boilers, feedwater heaters, headers, steam pipes and valves.
For Paper Mills -To prevent smelt water explosive reactions in recovery boilers.
For Process Plant -To provide early warning of leaks in steam pipes, valves and heat exchanges.
